The fashion industry has its fair share of sustainability sins – sweatshops, extensive air miles associated with each label, and pushing consumerist behaviors around the world.
Recently, clothes chains including New Look, Esprit, Tesco and KappAhl have agreed to work in partnership with US environmental NGO Canopy to source their rayon sustainably. The aim is to protect endangered forests and their species, which are often under threat by rayon production. Organic cotton has received much publicity in recent years and hopefully progress will continue along this thread!
