Meet the team!

Happy new year! New year, new Studenten voor Morgen and DuurzameStudent team! Today, we are welcoming some new faces and re-introducing some members!
We (re-)welcome the board members of Studenten voor Morgen, the organisation that leads the Duurzame Student blog. In this article, we’ll ask them some questions to highlight their interests and drivers for their position.
1. Who are you and what is your position?

I am Floris, I’ve done a board year in the year ’22-’23 too and just like back then I am in charge of treasuring and the SustainaBul!
My name is Judith and I am the current chairperson and in that role I’ll be in contact with many of our partners and organise the Groene Peper!

I am Charlotte, the student network coordinator. Next to being in touch with all of our members I work on the Groene Peper too!
Last but not least, me, Carlijn, the secretary this year! I also work on the SustainBul but am also the project manager of DuurzameStudent.

2. Which lesson from your studies/hobbies will be useful for your position in the SvM board?
Judith: I learned in my bachelor that in order to make an impact in and for sustainability you need top-down and bottom-up solutions. The interactions needed for those are what I aim to facilitate as a chairperson of Studenten voor Morgen. I try to connect with both the member organisations and influential networks and people for the top-down approach.
Carlijn: During a previous board year at another association I learned about the importance of clear communication. Then it had been proven to be essential for not only communication to your members but also to the people you are in the board with. I encountered firsthand what happens if this is not happening. A good, honest and open team makes good decisions and is able to carry these out to its members in a good, honest and open manner.
Floris: I learned during my studies that sustainability is not one-dimensional and there is a certain uncertainty in our future. This uncertainty is guaranteed and at Studenten voor Morgen and in education more generally I would like to see that this uncertainty is embraced and that students are being taught about is. Being in charge of the SustainaBul will hopefully help me carry out this message a bit broader. When it comes to my position in the board, I learned most of the knowledge from my hobby, being in the board of Studenten voor Morgen.
Charlotte: In my studies I learned that fighting for a sustainable future is a collective effort. That is why I want to connect those with a common ground and passion for sustainability in education. I aim on building a coalition and collaboration between these to empower each other as well.
3. If you had to describe being part of SvM’s board this year in one word, what would the word be?
Judith: My word would be focus. Now that I finished my Bachelor’s degree I feel like I have the time and headspace to properly focus on Studenten voor Morgen. And more importantly, we are also trying to get more of a focus on our core operations within Studenten voor Morgen. We started to carry out the message again that we are an organisation that revolves around our members and that we are merely an executive board.
Floris: I’d say Leeuwarden. Because I joined a board with three girls who already knew each other from there, and I am learning a lot of gossip and interesting facts from the city and their campus, haha!
Carlijn and Charlotte: nothing more to add, these two words are spot on!
4. What is your sustainability advice for our readers?
In unison: become a member of a youth organisation! Preferably one for sustainability of course! But in every youth organisation there are a lot of energetic, fun and passionate people that we are sure can help make the world a tiny bit better.
This new board also means that the previous project managers, Lisa and Ana have finished their board year. This means that they are not the project managers anymore and Carmen has also decided to step down as Editor in Chief. We want to thank them for a successful year of blogs on sustainability! However, Ana has decided to take over Carmen’s position as Editor in Chief, so a warm re-welcome to Ana in this new position! The Duurzame Student team, of course, goes beyond these 5 members. On our About us page you can find information on all of the currently active writers. If you have any questions about us, feel free to email us!
